영작표현#70 to this day

 

To this day의 의미는 "지금(오늘날) 까지도"(even now / after a very long time) 입니다.

 

특히 과거부터 지금까지 시간이 많이 흘렀는데도 같은 일이 지금도 일어 나고 있을 때 쓸 수 있는 유용한 표현입니다.

 

쓸 때 tense(시제)에 유의하여야 합니다. 과거부터 지금까지라는 표현이지만 "현재완료"(Present Perfect)로 쓰지 않고 "현재형"(Present Simple) 시제로 씁니다.
